VINUTVs, ATVs, trailers, snowmobiles17 characters, never the letters I, O or Q. Usually on the frame near the front, and on the title.
HINBoats and personal watercraft12 characters on the upper right of the transom (the back of the hull).
PINCompact tractors, loaders, skid steers13 or 17 characters on a plate on the frame, often near the operator station or front axle.
SerialMowers, saws, snow blowers, generatorsOn the maker's ID sticker or plate. Pair it with the brand and model; serials only have to be unique within a model.
